Reframing the Season~ Picture the Holidays~ December Daily

December 2nd prompt is:

Beginning December in a calm state of mind might seem easy (now). But, the frenzy of the holiday season can get the best of us and sometimes can come on with very little warning. There will be good days and bad but the gist is to look at this holiday season a little differently. This season we aren't only going to 'hope' to enjoy it (amidst the chaos) we will enjoy it! It only takes a little reframing.


As a symbol of looking at things a little differently, today you'll be using a literal frame for your image. You get to decide what goes in your frame today and how you choose to capture it!

I couldn't really come up with anything other than to use the literal frame, and before I knew it the day was almost over. So this is what I did:

Of course I would have had all three of my reason for the season, but Riley decided he'd have more fun going with a friend to a birthday party than to come hang out at his Aunt's house! I told him I was upset with him for ditching me to go to some ole' party!

French Lick Part 1

This will be an overloaded post with photos. And I'm doing it in two parts.
We as a whole family went down to French Lick November 25th and stayed the night. That is the first time since Mike & I have been married that we all went somewhere on vacation together. The kids were super excited and Friday when we got up, all Josie kept asking was if it was time to leave yet.
I'll let the photos do most of the talking.

First we all went to eat at the French Lick Winery. Their pizza was really good as was their cherry wine!

Riley was not at all interested in me taking a photo of him. All he was concerned about was when we got to go swimming.

Michelle wanted to walk the kids around at dark so they could see all of the lights. So Michelle, I and Mike took them for a walk, while everyone else hit the casino.

When we came back in, Mrs Clause was there getting ready to read the kids a book.

While Michelle took Josie & Kayla to listen to Mrs Clause read a book, Mike, Riley & I went for a walk to check out all the decorations and for me to get some photos.

Finally they get to so swimming. The pool was very warm!

After the pool, we went back and took our showers. The kids were hungry so we took them down for ice cream. Josie was plumb tuckered out. She fell asleep on me while we were standing in line for her ice cream and root beer. So Mommy had to eat the ice cream and Daddy drunk the root beer.  Poor baby!

Rick came back to put the kids to bed, so Michelle could go gambling. Mike went back to the room with Josie so I could go gamble. But not until I went to Denny's to get him something to eat. He'd visited Jack and Coke while we were swimming and had the munchies!

Picture the Holidays-December Daily-Kim Klassen-Texture Tuesday

I'm back at it again this year with the December Daily! We got our first prompt today:

With the giving of thanks still fresh in our hearts and minds, let's start off our month from the best place possible: a place of gratitude.


Take a few minutes to focus on all the things you have to be grateful for today and then, choose a perspective in which to capture at least one of those things in a photograph.

Well I thought about it all day long and of course the first thing that always comes to mind is Josie. After all the trouble we had getting pregnant she is of course our biggest blessing to be grateful for.
I'm pretty sure without looking back at last years though that is what I used. So I was trying to think of a different way to incorporate her without having a literal photo of her.
So I'm thinking "hands". Okay, what could her hands be doing? I of course the one night I NEED her in the house, she decides to go to the garage with Daddy. I was hoping she'd be in a humoring mood for me and of course my little model was. I found an ornament that held more meaning than just an ornament and there we go!

So I am of course thankful for our sweet daughter, our little family and in terms of the ornament, I am thankful for our home! (Couldn't forget it's an actual log cabin!!!)
