Day After Disaster

We let Josie stay up late Christmas night so she could play with her toys and I didn't have to go to work. However, Daddy did, and so Josie decided to get up when he did. But she let Mommy lay in bed for a while. When we got up and got our breakfast ate, we went down to start on half of the aftermath from two days of Christmas and not being home.
I started a tradition a long time ago of taking a photo of it all piled up. We've never had the time to deal with any of it over the two days so the following week after is dealing with getting it all put away and getting all clothes washed.
So here's half of our aftermath. The other half is spread all over the upstairs!

When I got through some things and went to start the laundry, this is what I found.

I guess Josie had been helping while I was still in bed and had gotten all of her clothes out of boxes/bags and put them in the washing machine! This kid is hilarious!!!

Christmas Day

Okay! December 25th, Christmas Day. We had to wake Josie up. She was still snoozing. Would have liked to continue snoozing also, but we had to be down at Dad & Mom's by 8:30 for breakfast and Christmas down there.
Josie asked Santa for a DS, Barbie and some Squinkies. Of course her list kept getting longer as the month went along, but those are the things she actually asked Santa for.

Daddy got an XBox for his Christmas and Birthday.

Then it was off to Papa Doug's and Mama Carole's. First we start out with a huge spread of a breakfast, that mom makes.

Us kids got Dad & Mom a new video camera so we let them open it up while we were eating breakfast so that they would have it.

Then off to open presents.

Uncle Nathan and Aunt Emily got him an IU basketball signed by all the players.

Mikey was the only boy that would hold up his presents for us to take photos. So here he's being a smart butt!

Rick & Mike opening up mine and Michelle's presents from Santa. That Santa so comically wrapped and put the boys names on.

The kids were jumping in the wrapping paper after everyone was done.

After hanging out down there a while, it was off to Aunt Sandy's for Christmas there.

Josie was absolutely pooped after this long and exciting day. She was out before we even got out of Hyde Park.

When we got home though and she woke up a little, she had enough energy to play with all of her new toys and to play Kinect with me. Notice she had her Christmas Jammies on all day. The child didn't want to take them off.
I forgot to take photos of her Gingerbread house she made at Aunt Michelle's with the kids. So I shot a few before I threw it away. I'm so surprised we made it through 2 weeks of it sitting on our counter and Gertie not getting it to eat.

I am always so glad when Christmas is over. All the hustling and bustling is tiresome! Now for next year!!!

December 19th, I had my camera out playing around with it, and Josie decided she was going to be my model. She was posing and making faces. I even got Gertie in the act and actually got a good photo of her. She is the hardest dog to get photos of!

Josie had her first haircut on December 3rd. Christie cut it for her and she was such a big girl for her. She sat very still which was amazing! Every time I fix her hair it's all lopsided cause she won't sit still!
Christie even curled it and the rest of the day, she kept telling anyone that would touch it to leave it alone or they were going to mess up her hair!

After we were done with getting our hair done, we met Michelle, Riley, Kayla & Papa Doug at Fountain Square to do our annual Christmas photos and Santa Clause. We then went out to eat at Opie Taylor's. Never been there, food was quite good!

After we were all done there, we went home and got Daddy and took Josie to Papa and Mama Mike's for her to stay the night. It was our 17th wedding anniversary and we got a room down at French Lick. We got down there early afternoon, checked into the hotel. Walked around to the shops and ate at a local pub. We then went back to the hotel and gambled until around 3:30 in the morning. I hit the jackpot on a slot machine around 2:00 in the morning. Had the lady walk up to me with her fanny pack of money and a security guard. The whole shibang! Had the guy next to me not told me I just hit it, I wouldn't have known!!! It paid for our entire trip, meals and even bought some antiques when we went antiquing on Sunday.

First Snow

On November 29th we had our first snow. I was of course at work, but had my camera with me. So out I went!
It didn't start out as very much.

It kept on coming. I was patient and waited longer to get more photos. I had to go out with my umbrella over my head to take them and that was a trip! Try to hold a camera and an umbrella and see how much fun it is! I'm sure people driving down the road thought I was nuts! Especially when I went out to the mailbox.

Saturday, November 26th when we left French Lick we drove over to Clarksville and went to Bass Pro.
Josie was in heaven when we got to the aisles with the worms. She has to buy at least one or two bags wherever we go. She has quite the collection.

French Lick Part 2

Okay, people, are you ready for a photo overload! Well here's the second day spent at French Lick!

First we start out with breakfast at the Colonnade Room. Which was the first time Mike & I had ate there and the buffet was wonderful!

I had wanted to find someone to take a family photo of us while we were down there but had no luck. So I set up the camera on self timer and tried some. Then Riley got to take some of us, then Kayla and lastly Josie.

After everyone got loaded up, I wanted to go back to the casino to see if I could hit anymore. First we went to the candy shoppe to get the kids something to eat to help Mama pacify them. Their homemade candies in there are so pretty!

And while I was away, they got to see Santa Clause. He was there getting ready to see all the other boys and girls and take photos. We weren't going to be there when is was photo taking time, so he was nice enough to pose for a few.

I saw this garage coming into town and told Mike it would make a pretty cool photo. Well he remembered and whipped me into an empty pull off so I could snap this. I think it is so awesome! Love the colors!!!

Well that ends the trip to French Lick! Everyone split and went their different ways. Us! Well we drove on down to Clarksville to go to Bass Pro and stay the night there. I think this might be a new annual tradition for us. Stay at French Lick and then go to Bass Pro the next day.

This triggers the little things, in the fact that I find all of Josie's little things around all the time. And though it annoys me that they are where they aren't suppose to be. I wouldn't trade it for the world!
The other little thing is, notice on the left hand side of the photo, is Gertie's nose! If Josie doesn't keep these little things picked up, Gertie decides to make a chew toy out of them. Josie is learning slowly what this means!

I did cheat a little though. Instead of using a photo I took on the 3rd. I am using one I took on November 29th cause I've never captured or seen anything like it. And guess what it is a HEART!!!

Reframing the Season~ Picture the Holidays~ December Daily

December 2nd prompt is:

Beginning December in a calm state of mind might seem easy (now). But, the frenzy of the holiday season can get the best of us and sometimes can come on with very little warning. There will be good days and bad but the gist is to look at this holiday season a little differently. This season we aren't only going to 'hope' to enjoy it (amidst the chaos) we will enjoy it! It only takes a little reframing.

As a symbol of looking at things a little differently, today you'll be using a literal frame for your image. You get to decide what goes in your frame today and how you choose to capture it!

I couldn't really come up with anything other than to use the literal frame, and before I knew it the day was almost over. So this is what I did:

Of course I would have had all three of my reason for the season, but Riley decided he'd have more fun going with a friend to a birthday party than to come hang out at his Aunt's house! I told him I was upset with him for ditching me to go to some ole' party!

French Lick Part 1

We as a whole family went down to French Lick November 25th and stayed the night. That is the first time since Mike & I have been married that we all went somewhere on vacation together. The kids were super excited and Friday when we got up, all Josie kept asking was if it was time to leave yet.
I'll let the photos do most of the talking.

Finally they get to so swimming. The pool was very warm!

After the pool, we went back and took our showers. The kids were hungry so we took them down for ice cream. Josie was plumb tuckered out. She fell asleep on me while we were standing in line for her ice cream and root beer. So Mommy had to eat the ice cream and Daddy drunk the root beer. Poor baby!

Rick came back to put the kids to bed, so Michelle could go gambling. Mike went back to the room with Josie so I could go gamble. But not until I went to Denny's to get him something to eat. He'd visited Jack and Coke while we were swimming and had the munchies!

Picture the Holidays-December Daily-Kim Klassen-Texture Tuesday

I'm back at it again this year with the December Daily! We got our first prompt today:

With the giving of thanks still fresh in our hearts and minds, let's start off our month from the best place possible: a place of gratitude.

Take a few minutes to focus on all the things you have to be grateful for today and then, choose a perspective in which to capture at least one of those things in a photograph.

Well I thought about it all day long and of course the first thing that always comes to mind is Josie. After all the trouble we had getting pregnant she is of course our biggest blessing to be grateful for.
I'm pretty sure without looking back at last years though that is what I used. So I was trying to think of a different way to incorporate her without having a literal photo of her.
So I'm thinking "hands". Okay, what could her hands be doing? I of course the one night I NEED her in the house, she decides to go to the garage with Daddy. I was hoping she'd be in a humoring mood for me and of course my little model was. I found an ornament that held more meaning than just an ornament and there we go!

So I am of course thankful for our sweet daughter, our little family and in terms of the ornament, I am thankful for our home! (Couldn't forget it's an actual log cabin!!!)

It's Turkey Day! Josie & I got up and done some cleaning around the house, watched the parade, and then went to Aunt Sandy's for thanksgiving with the Jones'. I forgot to take my camera in, so Sandy if you are reading this, I need some photos!
As we were leaving Sandy & Bobbie's, I turned around in a driveway across the street. Josie informed me that I can't do that. I asked her why, and she told me I was gonna get shot! I laughed and asked her who she heard that from and she said Uncle Nathan! She's been listening to her Daddy is what it is!!!
We then went to Mom's for Thanksgiving. The kids had a really good time. It was great to see Cameron, it had been a few years since we had gotten to see him and he has grown up so much.

This was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I had planned on taking off around noon anyway and it was a good thing I did. We locked up everything at the office, I got Josie put in her car seat and walked around got in my side, buckled in, turned on the car, put it in reverse and then I hear her upchuck in the back seat! LOVELY!!! When I got her home, I took her temperature and sure enough she was running one. So I gave her some Tylenol and had her take a nap. Her temperature went away so we went on down to Granny's for Thanksgiving. She was fine all night long. We got home and she was running another one. So I gave her more Tylenol. Mike woke me up at 3:00 AM and asked why the family room light was on. I didn't know, so I got up and walked into her room, she wasn't in there. I started walking back out into the family room to find her and she was sitting on her little couch, in a completely different outfit. I asked her why she had changed and she told me she didn't want to wear her jammies. I made her go back to bed and when we all woke at 8:00 am, she got up, went in her room, and changed again! I went in there to find out what she was doing and she was in the midst of putting different pants on, shirt was already changed. I look on her bed and she had two babies out and their outfits were changed as well. She didn't have enough time to have done this at 8:00 in the morning, so I'm assuming when she changed her clothes at 3:00 AM she also changed both of the babies clothes! It was too funny!!!!

Michelle decided to have Kayla's birthday party down at church in the new building. You never know what the weather is going to be around Kayla's birthday, so she was playing it safe. It actually turned out to be a really nice day out and all the girls got to use the playground.
I don't exactly know how many girls there were at this party, but there was alot! And you know what happens with girls together. Lot's of squealing!!! But they had fun.
Kayla decided she wanted this year to be a princess theme. So Michelle made her a cake and some homemade chocolate suckers, which I'm guessing were pretty good, cause Josie ate every single one she took. Including the one she took that was suppose to have been Mommy's.
The opening of presents was hilarious! All the girls bombarded Kayla. You couldn't see the poor child they were all so close to her as she was opening presents. I had to stand on a chair and hold my camera in the air to try and get photos of them.

When we took the girls to Macy's, I was going so that I could get Josie a new pair of Christmas PJ's. She had outgrown hers and wanted another pair. She found a nightgown that she liked and Kayla had to have it also. So as soon as we got home from eating at Applebee's, I had to wash their new PJ's so they could match that night for bed.

She had a lazy Sunday morning. She threw up for the first time ever on Friday night. And she did a good job, it went everywhere, including herself and Mommy! She was fine all day on Saturday and fine while Kayla was still at the house on Sunday morning. But after Kayla left, all she wanted to do was sit in the chair and watch TV. Including eating her lunch in the chair with her blankie.

Even Gertie got in on that action, and took over the couch, my blanket and pillows. I love how if you look really close, you can see one of her eyes open looking at me like, "What are you doing?"

After Daddy got home from hunting we took off to go Trick or Treat for this year. We left the house around 2:00 in the afternoon and including supper, we got home around 8:30 that night. She was still raring to go though!

I started the tradition this year to take the kids to Barnes & Nobles for their birthdays. Josie loves the bookstore. Riley & Kayla only go when I take them. And they seem to really enjoy it as well.
The girls both had a hard time choosing what they wanted to get. There were also a few arguments over what book was what and which one each of them should get. I swear, you would think these 3 were siblings. They argue just like they are!

Kayla stayed the night with us. I blew up an air mattress in the living room floor and was going to sleep with them, but I was told instead that I had to sleep on the couch.
They woke up in the morning and went downstairs thinking I was down there. I could hear them whispering the whole time. They then came up to the couch where I was, and was whispering. What could you do? You had to scare them, and scare them I did!

I don't know how, but I always get the job of cleaning out the pumpkin snot!

Daddy always gets to carve the face out. Josie colors on it with a marker and then he carves it!

Our finished pumpkin! I didn't have any candles around the house, so we used one of Josie's flashlights. I put it in a baggie and turned it on. Worked pretty well!
She wouldn't let us take the pumpkin outside after we carved it. I let it stay in the house for a few days, and just couldn't take the gnats anymore, so I snuck it out.
It is now sitting right next to our front door, cause she doesn't want it to get rained on. I told her we needed to throw it away cause it had "black" (mold) on the inside and she still won't let go.
I might have to sneak it over the hill, now!

As some know and some don't. September 1st of this year, my brother and I took over the contract for B&B Water. We bought out Rural Water Maintenance (Ernie & Brad.) I have been employed by them for the past 7 years. The longest I have ever worked anywhere in my life! I guess that counts for something, right?
Anyway, I will have to get my Water Certification, so I have been studying the books. It has been so long since I have had to take a test. I wasn't really nervous about it, but I knew I wasn't really "getting" it either. My test was on November 3rd in Indianapolis. We had 3 hours to take a 100 question test.
I know what you're thinking, 100 questions, 3 hours, open book, simple! But no not really!!!! I won't find out if I passed until the end of November, beginning of December. Keeping fingers crossed cause I don't really want to have to study all of that stuff again! Makes my head do flips! But if I didn't pass, I'll hit them again and take the test again, so here's to hoping I passed.
And I think that is a pretty darn good reason to have slowed down on posts this time!

Josie wanted to take Gertie for a walk, but Gertie has broke her collar. I think she could tear up a concrete block! Anyway, I told her we could take her for a walk in the woods and then she wouldn't have to have a leash on.
So off we went, Gertie had an absolute blast running around the woods with us. And she never did go far from us. She's good at staying right with us. I tried my hardest to get a good photo of her but every time I had a good photo op, she would move. So this is the best I could get. She is such a pretty dog!

I took Josie to the mall after my haircut and before Rachel's shower. We went to go get the "woody" costume at Build a Bear and look for Josie some brown and black boots.
We found the black ones and went searching for the brown ones. We went down to payless and as I was looking for brown boots. Josie found some pretty pink glittery princess shoes. She just had to have them, she said. Who is this Mommy to say no, to my spoiled little girl. Especially since they weren't Dorothy shoes! Those that know me, knows I do not like the Wizard of Oz and therefore I will not be buying her red no place like home shoes. Someone else wants to that's fine, but pink ones were just fine with me.
She insisted she wear them out of the store. This was the first, I remember always wanting to wear my new shoes home and how it was such a treat. She had to show everyone she seen her new shoes. It was totally cute!!!

On another note, Texture Tuesday's prompt this week was using and interpreting the #2 however we so choose. So once I remembered this photo, I did some playing around.

I did some burning on a duplicate copy of the photo, applies two layers of Ugglovebandw and a layer of graydayslate. Did some masking and some blend modes on the layers themselves. I think it turned out super duper cute, but I couldn't let it go and not put a quote on it. I guess this is my "new" thing! :-) LOL

First off the kid, told me I wouldn't need primer cause this is the paint with the primer. Even after I told him what I was painting. So this dumb desk took 5 coats of paint. It still shows the wood through, but I was finished!!!!

I had a pair of gloves that were from when Mike was little. Josie was afraid of them last year so I didn't get to use them anywhere. This year I got them out and stuffed them with papertowel, shut them in the bathroom window as if they were coming out the window. Josie was afraid at first but after a couple nights of seeing them she thought they were funny.
She always wanted her photo taken under them and everytime she asked, I didn't have my good camera handy. So here's one with my phone.

Lord, why do I continuously fall behind in these blog posts! I need to clear my brain and start over with life! (would be so nice at times)
Anyway, long overdue, Mike took Josie hunting the day after the Halloween party. Mommy told her I was going to do absolutely nothing on Sunday but spend time with her. I didn't keep my promise completely, the OCD in me came out and I had to clean up a little bit. But I did go hunting with them, which is something I said I would never do again. Mike took me one time when we were dating and he said he wouldn't take me ever again either. I couldn't sit still, so if I wasn't smoking, I was breaking twigs. I don't think he liked it very much! HeeHee!
But this time I went and took my own shooting weapon, my camera!
Josie thought we were going to camp out cause he took his blind that he uses during turkey season. Now every time we go to the woods, she informs me that - that is where we went camping.

After she collided with the bow handle, that led to profuse bleeding, mommy let her play with her Iphone.

To elaborate on the bleeding issue. Mike had his bow hanging from the blind. Josie was on the ground coloring in her color book. She stands up and hits the end of his bow. She started her normal cry she does when she is hurt and/or gets hurt doing something she was told to watch out for. Which she was repeatedly asked to watch Daddy's bow. So she climbs up in my lap, crying, I'm rubbing her and trying to calm her down. She quits crying, so I get her to lean up to check her head. When she leans up, her entire face is covered in blood. My shirt is covered in blood, or should I say Mike's shirt?! We get her cleaned all up and it was a tiny little nick in the top of her head. I don't know if she bled that much or if it was mixed with all the tears. But she was fine as soon as we got her all cleaned up and she figured out she wasn't in trouble. I was so proud of myself when it was all said and done, cause I kept my cool and didn't flip out on all the blood. And I even got the blood out of all of our clothes!
She had to show everyone the nick the next day, which you had to really dig in her hair to find cause it was so small.
Uncle Rick calls her knot head, and I think she's going to keep that nickname for a while, as much as the child hits her head on things. But I'm thankful so far it has all been minuscule injuries.

2011 Halloween Bash ~ Bloomington, Indiana ~ Dreams Do Come True Photography

I decided it was high-time to get back on the Halloween party train! :-) So this year, I went all out, I guess you could say I made up for not having one for the last three years. This one was a little different though, in the fact that grown men weren't wrestling or swinging from grapevines. Instead the younger men were running around the woods and hiding from the younger girls! Or playing in the haunted house constructed out of Mike's hunting shed.

Anyway, this is my inspiration board.

So I went from this to these! (***CAUTION- Photo overload***)

The wonderful Hope came out and facepainted everyone, including me.

Then Logan & Courtney came by and took us for a hayride on the tractor. The kids heard the tractor coming and were chomping at the bit to get on it. A few little ones fell asleep while riding.

I did a lottery draw for the adults. They bought a raffle ticket at a dollar a chance to win "31" scratch off lottery tickets. Mika won with only buying one raffle ticket chance. And won $10 from the scratch off's.

That was about it. We had a great time and the kids really enjoyed it. Now onto planning for next years!

Josie and Kayla were invited by Kayla's friend Mollie to BUGS for a friend day. The girls had an absolute blast and Josie calls it "magics". Took me a while to figure that one out! :-)
Anyway, after her Sport Shorties was over, I asked her if she wanted to play basketball this winter or do gymnastics. Right away she told me gymnastics, so here we are. This is their first class. It's a very small class of only 4 kids including Kayla and Josie. Josie is pushing a two year age difference with the other three girls but she's been keeping up just fine with them and she thoroughly enjoys it. Course what "monkey" wouldn't like flipping around. And she is definately a little monkey! Their teacher's name is Christie and she is really excellent with them. I think they are learning more and having more fun here than they did last year with dance.

I promised Josie that when we got home Monday night, we would fill the pumpkins up with leaves. Well I kept my promise, but she didn't! This raking, didn't last long, she decided to get in Dad's truck and play while I raked. So Mommy just went and got the leaf blower! I'm not no dummy!!!

Josie really couldn't play much in the leaves, due to Gertie.

She acted just like Levi used to! Jumping over,under and in leaves.

Our finished pumpkins! She even told me where to put them. One is in the garage driveway, one is in the flower bed at the house and one is on the pool deck. She asked me if we could get millions next year. Of course I said, Yes!

On a side note: Josie stayed with Mama Carole today and Mama said out of the blue, Josie told her that Daddy and Mommy were trying for a baby. And that Daddy is always camping.
Daddy is not ever camping. Don't know where that one came from.
And we haven't spoken about a baby in front of her let alone between just the two of us. I wish we could give her a baby sibling, but at this point, it's not really an option. It took so much money and time to be able to have her. Then to top it off, I ended up with pretty bad, PostPartum Depression. Josie was worth everything we went through and yes I would do it again in a heartbeat if it was a possibility. But I don't want to take away the time, money and my mind from my daughter.

Sunday we took the kids to Apple-Works. They had fun, but I was dissapointed! They said they closed at 7:00, but not really. Everything is put up, animals and all around 6:30. And they were out of Apple Fritters! My biggest dissapointment.

But it was alot of fun this year with Josie. She was running around the patch, trying to find a pumpkin she could carry. Kayla was fun, but Riley may be getting too old for it. He was kind of in the "iffy" stage. He wanted to have fun, but he also thought he was too big for it.

Finally, the glasses we just had to have at Bass Pro Shop, she is finally wearing!

Josie started baseball on September 24th and October 1st was her first game. She seems to enjoy baseball more than she did soccer. She does have an issue though, she doesn't listen and pay attention. She is too busy people watching!

She didn't understand the "good game" line up so Coach Leslie assisted her. Now we are always playing "good game."

Josie keeps talking about going camping in the woods. So Mike got Chris' tent and mattress and we set it up down in our bottom. We wanted to make sure she would do okay with it before we went far from home. She was so excited! While daddy and mommy were trying to set up the tent, she and Gertie just played in the bottom picking up "lemons" (aka, walnuts) and throwing sticks.

Once we got the tent set up, we ran to the store so she could get a "treat". She picked out gummy worms, licorice and a cherry frosty. We settled in, turned on the laptop and watched Fox & The Hound until she fell asleep. Now that's camping!

She did perfectly, the only downside, she got up at 6:00 in the morning. Which didn't make for a very fun day, but she did really good. And slept wonderfully. Dad & Mom on the other hand, Dad was falling off of the mattress into the floor of the tent and Mom was stuck up against the tent wall with only one direction to lay, otherwise I rolled to the center because the mattress was losing air.

How cool are these caterpillar photos! I'm trying to figure out where to blow them up and hang them, they are just simply awesome to me! Now I need a macro lens!!!

My new project! I bought this at a yard sale for $25, it is going to be painted a bright green and put in our "art" room.

Sport Shorties ~ Soccer Season ~ Bloomington, Indiana ~ Dreams Do Come True Photography

Josie started her Sport Shorties on September 10th. I had to end up sitting in the soccer field so she could see me, and once I did that she cooperated and participated. She said she really enjoyed it and quite honestly I enjoyed watching her do this stuff more than I did dance. It was nice seeing her playing with teammates.
It helps that Leslie is her coach. She knows that Mommy knows her from going to school with her and that she also was there when Riley & Kayla played basketball at Bannekar.
